BACKGROUND
A nursery with its own water well – and a growing nitrate problem
Horsens Lift and Nursery is a local company with headquarters in Middelfart. In addition to delivering advanced lifting solutions, they operate a nursery primarily growing strawberries, blackberries, and legumes. The nursery is supplied by their own water well on the property, which has for many years provided stable groundwater for both production and operations.
With approximately 25 employees and a horticultural production where water quality and supply reliability directly influence crop quality and operational economics, it was not an option to simply stand by while the nitrate content in the borehole increased.

The PowerPack solution delivered significant reductions in nitrate, nitrite, and metals – bringing water quality to a level that secures both crops and operations. At the same time, the investment yielded a healthy economic gain through avoided capital investments and lower ongoing costs. By continuing with their own well instead of municipal connection, the company saves approximately 15,000 kroner annually, and since the solution runs without chemicals or electricity, the operating budget remains low year after year.

When the company's water well was analyzed on October 10, 2023, samples showed a sharp increase in nitrate (43 mg/L), manganese (12 mg/L), and other metals close to the limit values. Without action, the company faced closing the well and investing in a connection to the municipal waterworks.
H2O Shift installed a PowerPack precipitation solution sized for the nursery's water consumption and mounted directly on the water connection in the pump house. After just 17 days of operation – without chemicals or external power – the results were documented and significant.
